The senior most belonging to South Indian cinema – cameraman, producer and director who had stint in Tamil and Telugu films died after four years of battle for survival. The final call came today Sunday for this doyen of five languages film maker. Besides producing, directing and doing cinematography he was instrumental in bringing latest technology to Kannada cinema in those days.

Born on 11th in the month of 11th (November) in the year 1917 Bindiganavalue Srinivas Iyengar Ranga got trained at the age of 17 in photography. His father Srinivasa Iyenga had fascination to theatre. He got fellowship from Royal Photographic Society of Rayal Salon London.

BS Ranga is the first one India to set up Automatic Processiong Laboratory with the help of Krishnagopal as his mentor. The first camera work he did was for ‘Bhaktha Naradar’ and after 40 films as cameraman he founded Vikram Productions and produced Bhaktha Markendeya. In five languages he has produced 55 films so far in his career.

A cinematographer, director, producer, laboratory owner, studio owner, exhibitor and script writer all rolled in to one via Vikram Productions is the winner of prestigious President honor. For the film Tenali Ramakrishna in Telugu he selected NTR and Akkineni Nageshwara Rao.

He has produced and directed films such as Bhaktha Markandeya in 1956, Mahishasura Mardini, Amarashilpi Jakkanachari, Prathigne, Chandrahasa, Mahasathi Anusooye, Parvathi Kalyana, Bhale Bhasava, Mr Rajakumar, Sidila Mari, Bhagyavantha, Hasyarathna Ramakrishna, Huliyadha Kaala, Shivabhaktha Markandeya and others.

The representatives of Kannada cinema industry are reaching Chennai for paying the last respect.
